Contact Details: Email: info [at] mudworkz [dot] com About the Artist Marie-Jehanne has worked as a potter and designer for 30 years throughout different countries in Europe and the United States. Marie-Jehanne served apprenticeships in Germany under Mathis Schwartz and in Ireland under Gratten Frayer, student of Bernard Leach. In France she worked with Pierre Diegon. In the States she studied the technical aspects at The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston Massachusetts under Professor Mark Cooper and Barsanti. In the U.S. she managed and directed her own workshop and gallery in Portsmouth New Hampshire. There she created commissions for the Rothschild family. She also designed and created exclusive corporate gifts for multinationals such as Coca Cola Corporation and Liberty Mutual Corporation. Most recently a large collection of her work was represented by the Kennedy Arts Center in Washington D.C for their Irish celebrations. Marie-Jehanne's multi cultural experiance is mirrored in her work. Her pottery, that is rich in ethnic diversity, exhibits influences from around the world. Symbols and shapes both primitive and ancient, collude comfortably with the most modern and abstract designs. |
